She was born in India, and is part Swiss part American but has made England her home since the age of 10.
She trained first as an actress at the Drama Centre London and then film directing at City University and Raindance.
On graduating she landed a part in Danny Boyle's The Beach, later working with Danny again in 28 Days Later.
In 2001 Bindu founded her own theatre company (Make a Play Productions-MaPP) writing, producing and later directing plays. Her directorial debut was with Troop, a new play by Maggie Kirwan, based on the Anti Iraq War marches that happened around the world. Through MaPP Bindu also wrote and directed two short films: Things I Notice. Things You See, which was co-produced with Swiss-Italian Television (TSI) starring Michael Fassbender, and Gesundheit!, which was nominated for the Prix Europa Film Festival in Berlin. She went on to write and direct two more shorts: Three, which again was co-produced by TSI, starring Claire Price and The Kiss starring Jake Maskall.
She has currently finished directing her first feature film called JUMP, starring Claire Price, Glen Blackhall, Enzo Scanzi and Heidi Diggelmann, which she is awaiting release. Watch this space!
